Berufspraxis Deutsch B1

Berufspraxis Deutsch B1 is a workplace-German practice book at level B1: German for the job — the language of applications, interviews, colleagues, customers, meetings and the everyday paperwork of working life in a German-speaking country.

General B1 gets a learner through the street and the supermarket; work asks for more — the polite email, the phone call with a supplier, the sick note, the shift plan, the small talk that builds a team. This book practises exactly that professional register, at honest B1 level.

It is made for B1 learners preparing to work in German, Berufssprachkurs participants, and teachers of job-related German.

Berufspraxis Deutsch B1 cover

Berufspraxis means professional practice, and the book is organised the way a working life is: finding the job (reading advertisements, writing the Lebenslauf and the Bewerbungsschreiben, surviving the Vorstellungsgespräch), starting the job (contracts, schedules, safety instructions, the first-day conversations), and doing the job — telephoning, emailing, serving customers, attending meetings, reporting problems, and writing the short formal texts German workplaces run on. The language is the real professional register at B1: polite forms and softeners for requests, the standard phrases of business email (Betreff, Anrede, Grußformel), telephone formulas, and the vocabulary of offices, workshops, care, retail and hospitality. Grammar is present but employed — Konjunktiv II for politeness, passive for processes and instructions, connectors for the reports and explanations work demands. Every unit doubles as integration training: how German workplaces actually communicate — punctuality in language as in life, directness with courtesy, everything important in writing. For Berufssprachkurs teachers it is the practice strand their B1 job courses need; for self-learners entering the German labour market, it is the rehearsal room for the first working year.

What Learners Will Practise

Getting the Job

Job advertisements, CVs (Lebenslauf), application letters and interview conversations — the complete path from vacancy to first day.

Doing the Job

Telephone and email in professional register, customer and colleague communication, meetings, instructions and problem reports.

The Written Workplace

The forms and short texts of German work — notes, messages, schedules, formal letters — with the standard phrases that make them correct.

Key Features

The career-order organisation is the feature — find, start, do the job. The register honesty is the second: real professional German, pitched at true B1. The integration value is the third: workplace culture taught inside the language.

Who This Book Is For

It is for B1 learners entering German-speaking workplaces, Berufssprachkurs (DeuFöV) participants and teachers, and job-seekers preparing applications in German.

How to Use This Book

Practise the formulas aloud and in writing until they are automatic — professional phrases must arrive without thinking. Adapt every model text to your own profession and history; a Bewerbung is only useful personalised. Pair the book with real documents from your target workplace whenever possible.
